"Shaped by culture, not Christ" . . . how Nicole describes the way providing within marriage has been regarded, historically.
Something that stood out to me in this eGuide, "Provision, Power & Partnership: Reclaiming Covenant in a Culture of Control", was Nicole's point that "we've confused control with covenant". Rather than recognizing historical value of "shared leadership" and "mutual respect", which Nicole attributes to Biblical teachings, some elements of the culture today promote women being kept "under control" to maintain order.
Her eGuide, traces the change in household roles of providing over time, and their relation to historical events and circumorbital roles of men and women, and using historical context gives a very reasoned and rational take on provider stances, providing historical context for what led women to enter the workforce, and start earning an income. It also shows that women did what needed to be done for their households to survive changing and trying times throughout history.
Nicole points out in this eGuide that nowhere in the Bible is it stated that women are to remain in the home, rather than work, pointing out examples within the Bible of women working, engaging in business, trade, and government.
My takeaway from this eGuide is that what's wrong in how the roles of men and women in marriages today goes back to earthly ideas, not from Biblical teaching, and not from God. It is an "earthly" idea that women should not work, but should be at home. It is an "earthly" idea that marriage is a "50/50" business, not a "shared mission" based on respect for each other.
Or, as Nicole put it, it's "culture talking, not Christ".
Breaking down the realities and misconceptions of roles within marriages today, a very effective and concise eGuide for today's couples. - Greg Bulla

Now let’s dive into Day 1 of Mrs. Pinky Thoughts:
WEEK 1: Voice & Vulnerability
Day 1: I’m Still Here—Resilience Isn’t Always Loud
“They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.” — Isaiah 61:3b (NIV)
This morning, as the sun rises on the first few days leading up to 40s, I take a deep breath, not with noise, not with fanfare, but with certainty.
I’m still here.
Let me be clear: my survival didn’t come through grand speeches or viral posts. It came through quiet obedience, whispered prayers, and a kind of resilience that doesn’t need to be seen to be strong. I didn’t shout to be noticed. I stayed to be faithful.
In a world that celebrates loud wins, I’ve learned that Kingdom resilience often looks like silent endurance. It’s praying when no one claps. It’s building when no one sees, reposts, engages, or seems to care. It’s refusing to be uprooted when storms pass through your marriage, ministry, or mind. This is the story of Mrs. Pinky, me, and if you’re reading this, it’s probably yours too.
These next 40 days aren't a victory lap. They’re a virtual altar, a place to lay down wounds and remember how we made it. Not because we had it all together, but because God wouldn’t let us fall apart.
I have lost loved once, I have been sexually assaulted, I did two tours of combat in Iraq, I have been stalked, harassed, and emotionally abused. I lost my dad, my aunt, my cousin, and a brother. I have been fired, rejected, disrespected, betrayed, not picked, laughed at, talked about, dragged on Twitter for my looks and weight, teased of my yellow crooked teeth and mocked. I have visible and invisible scars that carry so much weight.
Yet, I survived.
I broke fear to survive a miscarriage, I married my best friend and the love of my life, I made it through two difficult pregnancies where I almost died both times, PTSD, depression, knee pain and now deal with Crohn’s disease.
God is good. I survived to use my voice to talk to you about what success actually looks like. He did not leave me or forsake me. I am still His own.
So, to the quiet warriors… To the ones holding it down behind the scenes… To the widows, the weary, the worn-out women and men who kept showing up...
You’re the reason I’m writing.
Because healing still has a seat at the table, and this table we’re building—through posts, preorders, and pinky-promises—isn’t just for me. It’s for legacy. For provision. For vision.
Jesus didn’t need a megaphone to change the world. He became the message. And that’s what I’m doing with this future book, this work, and our platform. That’s what you’re doing by walking with me. We are building something great. We are building something Iconic.
Kingdom resilience doesn’t always roar—it sometimes whispers, “I’m still here.” And that’s enough.
What have your survived silently? How do you continue on with your day knowing what you have been through? Share your story with us and let us see the strength you possess.
