5 Impactful Mental Health Tools to Survive Marriage
Mental health is a serious topic. We at Iconic are not experts so please consult them if you are going through an episode or need more Indepth mental health help.
Ladies, prioritizing your mental health is crucial today more than ever. I saw yesterday, someone playing the “Guess my Age Challenge” and it broke her when people guessed way older than she actually was. That realization hurt her.
She is now ready to go under the knife because she has insecurities about her looks. Stop playing these games and get rest, fitness/nutrition, read our articles on “self” work and love you.
We will do what we can.
Importantly, if you are experiencing a mental health crisis, you can now dial 988, the new number.
In another newsletter one pointer stuck with me and it was about mental health. Mental health is as important as spiritual and physical health.
In this repost, we revisit answered from our audience about how we keep our mental health strong.
We know this is for women’s empowerment specifically, but brothers, please take this information for yourself, too.
For discussion purposes, Icons had a conversation on my Twitter page answering the following:
The following are tips that we all can incorporate in our day to day lives when dealing with the stresses of life. Again, this is not to replace real therapy or mental health treatment, please consult your doctor if need be.
Our responses for Icons, are tips to deal stay mentally tough for today’s challenges:
Tool #1: Trust your spouse.
Your mate is a good support system for sharing everyday life with. We all are in charge of our own personal well-being and yet, it is awesome to have someone in our corner who can be a shoulder to lean on during struggling times. A spouse is our partner in sickness and in health, and that helps when crisis or stress strikes.
Tool 2: Prayer and Scripture
Knowing that the Lord of Creation can hear your prayers and be there with you helps us push through tough times. We have to trust in His truth that He hears us. He might tell us no or wait a minute, but He did hear us.
Tool #3: Exercise and Relax.
Whether it is fishing or yoga, find something that gets you moving or helps you relived stress. Exercise is known to help with depression and relaxation techniques like meditation can calm you down. Again, find what works for you to let your brain have a time to rest with good sleep hygiene and putting the electronics down.
Just stepping away from something stressful for a few minutes or taking time away from your normal routines and thoughts can give you enough space and distance to feel calmer.

Tool #4: Be serious.
Being overworked, exhausted, and upset are authentic feelings. You should know yourself enough to know when you need a break or when an issue must be death with. Give the grace to your own mental stability as you would anyone else and protect your peace.
4 Steps to processing your feelings:
Notice Your Behavior.
Name the Feeling.
Nurture the feeling.
Uncover Your Core Need.
Personal Story:
For me social media is a place that can help us grow businesses, connect with loved ones and to build relationships with friends, families and business partners. However, it can be toxic and draining on your mental health.
Last year, I found myself overwhelmed and exhausted trying to fight in the political arena and juggle things at home that I needed to step away and in a different direction.
It is not a sign of weakness when you realize what you can and cannot handle. I have been known as the type to put too much on my plate and then end up dropping everything.
With a husband, kids and a business, I have to be keenly aware of my surroundings, emotions and mental state.
You too need to check in often with yourself and realize what is going on, because if you don’t it could lead to depression or worse. Take care of you, before you can’t.
My worse mental health situation is when I grieved my own miscarriage. I wanted to die with my child. You can read the 5 tips I have to teach you how to overcome your own fears and win.
Here is what someone who bought a copy had to say:

Tool #5: Jiu-Jitsu
Whether Ninjitsu, Taekwondo or Karate, practitioners of the Marital arts tend to have positive mental health and mental toughness. Depending on which form you choose or a mixed style, you can learn things about yourself, your body, spirit and mind. Going to a class and getting under an instructor can put you in an environment with a good support system where you can test your own might and resolve.
Martial arts can help reduce stress and anxiety by encouraging you to practice deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness. It helps train your mind to keep your attention focused while remaining calm and alert. This can be especially helpful when you're trying to do multiple tasks that divide your attention.
In training you learn how to be in control. You learn how to handle emotions because you can hurt yourself or someone else. And you learn about how to interact with others in a way that normal lowers tensions or de-escalates before a need for self-offense/defense is necessary.

Our Iconic Campaign is Bigger than Ever!
The Iconic Story:
On October 1, 2022, I, Marriage Coach Nicole Pinkston launched the Iconic Media organization to empower men and women to build social empires that thrive.
Thriving is different from lasting. We don't just want to couple people up, we want couples that are flourishing, building generational wealth and lasting in love, marriage, family and in their lives.
Social empires are our family structures set up to maintain our families and our legacy regardless of the society around us. And we are in trouble, because our structures are crumbling.
We aim to change that!
I have been married for 12 years and it has not always been easy. Even with being a combat veteran and a trained soldier, marriage was tough in the beginning for us, even with Biblical principles in mind.
Do you or someone you know want to have a happy and lasting marriage? Do you want to learn the secrets of successful couples and great stories of those who overcome the challenges of life together? Do you want to get a marriage book with the secret formula or more?
IF you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have come to the right place.
We are writing "The Iconic Formula for Marriage Success", our 6th book!
What is this book about?
The Iconic Formula for Marriage Success” eBook written by Nicole Pinkston aka Mrs. Pinky will follow these ideas of our eCourse of the same name teaching you and your spouse 12 foundational principles to help you map a 25-year success plan for your marriage.
Chapters lessons include:
How to Cultivate the Mindset for a Successful Marriage
How to Develop the Mental Fortitude to Combat Marriage Challenges
How to Develop Your Marriage’s Vision and Mission Plan
How to Practice Self-Love So You Know How Best to Love Your Spouse
How to Develop a Financial Plan for Your Social Empire’s Success
How to Develop Effective Communication Strategies Based on Your Spouse’s Preferred Methods and more!
This is our blueprint. And I mean our, because this is a collective effort from us to build up our local families, then our communities and our nation.
We are the answer to today's marriage woes.
But why a 6th book? Because reading is how we transform lives and codify it in written format.
Current marriage woes are many. According to Pew Reseach's 2023 Report.
1. "A quarter of 40 years never been married."
2. "Public views of the family are complicated. Americans are more pessimistic than optimistic about the institution of marriage and the family." Over 40%.
3. "Marriage and families and parenthood are seen as less important to living a fulfilling life/"
4. "Unhappy couples stay in marriages too long."
5. "...adult children have a great deal or a fair amount of assistance and financial assistance to an elderly parent who needs this type of support" (Views of the American Family in 2023 Are Mixed | Pew Research Center
Something must be done, soon. We need to save our American families.
