Why Efficiency Is Not the Same as Obedience
God’s Order Vs. Man’s Hustle
My husband wrote me a little love note but it wasn’t the butterfly kind. He told me that I had a habit of carrying too much on my plate and then it gets to be too much, and I drop it all. And he was right. After years of juggling my dad’s pressures, societies requirements, the biblical standards, motherhood, being a wife, a business leader, a disabled combat veteran already, my body failed me.
In December of 2024, I was diagnosed with severe Crohn’s disease an autoimmune condition. This was a few months prior to losing my dad to heart disease and then my brother to his autoimmune condition. It was a serious wakeup call that I was doing too much and my body would pay the price.
I had written 7 books in three years, homeschooled 2 kids, and been juggling mental and health issues for the past 14 years. Not listening to the caring words of my husband, not out of spite, but out of erroneous pressure to “measure up” in some arbitrary way, God had to hit me with a jolt back to reality.
I heard them both finally.
Listen from my hard lesson, you weren’t designed to grind. You were designed to be governed. The hustle gospel has convinced believers to chase success. But God’s order invites you to host glory.
His biblical blueprint has success baked in if we use Wisdom to guide us instead of our own ambitions.
📖 Biblical Blueprint
Genesis 1:1–31 Creation unfolded in order; not chaos. Each day had its assignment. God didn’t multitask; He moved with intention.
Exodus 18:17–23 Jethro to Moses: “What you're doing is not good.” He advises structure, delegation, and divine rhythm over overwhelming responsibility. Here, Moses had to listen to his elder, sound advice sometimes come from our family.
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come to me… My yoke is easy.” Hustle adds weight. God's order adds alignment. God wants us to be able to accomplish His purpose for us.
💣 The Myth of Hustle
Grinding for Visibility. God already sees you and you wait on release
Pursue pace instead of pursuing presence
Building platforms instead of building people
Burnout is seen a badge instead of rest being a requirement
FOMO-driven decision making instead of Wisdom-Driven obedience
🏚️ When Hustle Invades the Church
Leaders perform instead of disciple Metrics become their ministry. Attendance > Assignment.
Families prioritize productivity over presence Parents build calendars, not covenant.
Ministries lose their prophetic pulse Trying to keep up with trends rather than slow down for Truth.
Entrepreneurs chase influence but lose intimacy The brand gets louder than the Bride.
🧭 Restoring Heaven’s Rhythm
You weren’t created to outrun others. You were created to walk in sync with the Spirit.
Let’s make rest prophetic again. Let’s make obedience the metric—not reach.
