8 Habits I Use to Create Our Happy Family
I am completely happy with the family my husband and I made. It wasn’t always easy, but we made it happen together. You too can have a thriving social empire if that is your goal. Do not let media tell you otherwise.
Importantly, Iconic Media focuses on promoting positive methods for self-improvement, enhancing relationships with partners, and nurturing family bonds.
While many dwell on societal issues, fostering constant outrage, the question remains: how can one cultivate a joyful family life?
We aim to present eight habits that guide you towards creating an Iconic family, one that truly embodies the beauty of taking risks in love.
Habit #1: Play time
Family should be more than a responsibility; it should be an opportunity to create iconic memories and truly enjoy time together. Being intentional is key, as children grow up and couples’ age.
Dedicate time to play with your family. Take family vacations, visit parks, museums, attend plays, and concerts. Seek out family-based deals, group packages, or join extended family members.
Despite busy careers and responsibilities, it's important to find time to unwind and cherish those for whom we work so hard.
Recalling a playful moment from 2015 in Tennessee, we had a family vacation near Dolly Parton’s home and decided to stage a mock stagecoach robbery.
That day, we were comically inept bandits, but we succeeded in creating lasting memories.
(Our son even wished for his sister at the wishing well).
Habit #2: Prayer time
God has the power to deliver us from many trials. We often spend so much time trying to shoulder every burden, decision, and conflict, but we should turn to the Lord in prayer. Indeed, approach God as a family, praying for one another, watching over each other, and loving one another to the best of your ability.
My family consistently prays for each other before anyone leaves in the morning or heads out to run errands.
We pray at the dinner table, expressing gratitude to the Lord who has guided us through much.
Partake in your spiritual journey openly, so your children can witness how you confront life's challenges together and understand that your help comes from above.
Teach them to seek God even when times are good. Such practices begin at home.
Habit #3: Cleaning Up
Chores are a necessity, but they can also be a team effort. Children can assist with tasks like raking leaves, planting in the garden, and tidying their rooms.
Our son can accompany us to the store to choose new shower curtains for his bathroom, as well as new pillows and bed linens, while our daughter can select new stuffed animals for her room.
Cleaning can be educational, teaching children the importance of responsibility and self-care, and it can even be turned into a fun game.
My son and I used to compete to see who could fold clothes the fastest, and the kids would use laundry hampers as make-believe vehicles.
Seize every opportunity to bond with your family; time waits for no one.
Habit #4: Getting Quality Education
Two years ago, we chose to homeschool our children due to issues with our son's local public school. After numerous meetings, we concluded that this was the best path for our child. Do what is best for you and your children, but ensure you do thorough research.
There is a wealth of resources available now to assist parents, which didn't exist in the past. Additionally, there are social media groups, homeschooling cooperatives, and retired educators who are eager to help. One of my favorite activities is visiting the local bookstore and library to gather the latest resources on education, games, and extracurricular activities to enhance our children's learning.
Don't attempt to tackle this alone. There is an abundance of information available now to facilitate learning. For example, many parents are returning to school to earn additional degrees and acquire new skills. Also, the virtual marketplace offers extensive opportunities to us to gain skills and knowledge in any field you wish to pursue, be it entrepreneurship, real estate, or investment brokerage.
Education is an ongoing journey, so never cease learning.

In June, I became ill and visited the emergency room. CT scans revealed that I had been battling a bacterial infection for two weeks, leading to a treatment with one antibiotic followed by two additional ones. This resulted in a C. diff infection, a bacterium that proliferates due to excessive antibiotic use, causing inflammation in my colon throughout this ordeal.
As medical expenses accumulate, I am striving to sustain Iconic.
Your support is needed.

Habit #5: Fitness, Exercise or Athletics
Adopting a new fitness and exercise routine is a powerful way to support your family's well-being and spend quality time together. Prioritizing your family's health becomes more manageable when you all work as a unit.

Habit #6: Eating Together
Nothing warms the soul quite like a hot, home-cooked meal. Cooking was not only a passion for me but also my duty in the United States Army. Every culture around the world has its unique cuisine that brings families together.
Cooking is an activity we all partake in during significant events. Why not share this experience with loved ones? Couples can deepen their bond by preparing their favorite dessert together, parents can delight their children by making their most-loved dishes, and once more, it's a chance to learn, not merely a task.
Habit #7: Better Communication
Every member of the family is important. A healthy and happy family engages in consistent and open communication, avoiding secrets, resentment, or deceit. in fact, poor communication can sever family ties.
On the other hand, strong family units are attentive and responsive to each other's pain, proactively meet each other's needs, and practice grace. They do this through hard work, compassion and care. It is love in action.
Parents, importantly, should listen to their children, recognizing that children may not have the same communication skills as adults. It's the parents' role to lead by example, being present and fostering positive habits.
Our words should be used to uplift and empower, not to demean, disrespect, or belittle especially within our families. We should encourage our children and partners to become their best selves while offering grace and forgiveness when necessary. This takes practice, patience and a willingness to work together by all family members.
We should stand by our words, own our actions, and dedicate ourselves to achieving our family's goals and vision every day. Life is an ongoing commitment, and we consciously strive to do right by those we love. That’s how happy social empires become thriving ones.
Habit #8: Remember the Love
We must not forget the purpose of being in an Iconic marriage and family: to build thriving social empires. Thriving on happiness is impossible without love.
Love is an action word, demonstrated by doing everything necessary to ensure our family's safety, security, and integrity.
The root of societal issues often lies in the disintegration of family structures. To reclaim our country from overreaching government and cultural conflicts, we must begin with our families.
This entails fulfilling our responsibilities to our spouses, actively engaging in raising successful children, and being fully present in our life's moments.
Key Takeaway
Healthy families contribute to them but being available and doing the hard work to getting them to a place of building a legacy that last.
If you aren’t willing to do the work, don’t make vows and babies.
Families are the backbone of our society, so fixing it starts in our homes.
Take back your community by first building your four walls.
And remember in all that you do, be Iconic.
