Embracing God's Grace and Finding Strength in Your Marriage
Rediscovery your Why and Do What God has Called You to do
Good morning, Icons,
We are back with our end of February 2025 newsletter week.
Last week, I had to bury my dad. My hero is gone.
And his legacy lives on in my mom, me, my siblings, our spouses and children. We will never let the memory of Clarence Pulley Jr die and will be doing something to honor him for #StrongDadJune, the entire month this summer.
If you would like to share your condolences, donate, leave a comment or subscribe, please do so below.
Any and all donations go towards supporting our matriarch, Nancy Pulley, my mother at this difficult time.
Thank you so much for all who have reached out so far.
If you wish to donate, use the button below to support. Continue to pray our strength in the Lord Jesus.
Embracing God's Grace and Finding Strength in Your Marriage
When we got married in 2011, I had no idea the things that would transpire over our 14 years of marriage. From the illness of our parents to our own medical issues, scary times with our kids and more, life has a funny way to show you that you aren’t always in control.
But God!
Life has a way of humbling us in ways we never imagined. Unexpected trials can test our faith, resilience, and relationships. In times of death, loss, medical crises, and other challenges, it's important to lean into God’s grace and find solace in the steadfast love and support of a solid marriage.
If there is any message that I can deliver on behalf of my dad, it is to let you all know the power of Christ Jesus and how belief in Him is everything. My dad’s resilience of dealing with type two diabetes, heart failure and more was through the power of God, the help of my mother, the support of my sister and her husband and the love we all share.
His faith in God lives on and he would love nothing more than for all of you to come to know Christ like he did.
Over 45 years, my parents’ faith have been the cornerstone of their relationship, their parenting, their life’s work and everything they built together. It is this testimony that allows for me, their eldest daughter, to create the Iconic marriage platform to solidify the truth that good healthy marriage can exist and do, through empowering you to build them to last.
Dear Iconic Community members,
Here are some reflections and practical advice on how couples can maintain their sanity, resilience, and unity through trying times:
1. Faith as the Cornerstone
God’s humbling experiences remind us of our human limitations and the need for His divine guidance. When faced with adversity, turning to prayer and spiritual reflection can provide immense comfort and clarity. Couples can strengthen their bond by praying together, reading scriptures, and attending worship services. This shared faith journey fosters a sense of togetherness and divine support.
2. Communicate Openly and Honestly
Effective communication is vital during challenging times. Share your fears, hopes, and concerns with your spouse. Listen actively and empathetically to each other’s feelings. This openness builds trust and ensures that both partners feel heard and understood.
3. Lean on Each Other for Strength
When the world feels upside down, your spouse can be your greatest source of support. Lean on each other emotionally and physically. Offer a shoulder to cry on, a comforting hug, or simply a listening ear. These small gestures can make a world of difference.
4. Seek Professional Help When Needed
There’s no shame in seeking help from a counselor or therapist. Professional guidance can provide tools and strategies to navigate tough times. Marriage counseling can also help couples strengthen their relationship and resolve any underlying issues.
5. Maintain a Sense of Normalcy
During crises, it’s important to find moments of normalcy and joy. Continue with your daily routines, celebrate small victories, and make time for activities you both enjoy. These moments can provide much-needed relief and remind you of the love and happiness you share.
6. Prioritize Self-Care
Taking care of yourself is crucial when supporting a spouse through difficult times. Ensure you’re getting enough rest, eating well, and engaging in activities that rejuvenate your mind and spirit. By taking care of yourself, you’ll be better equipped to support your partner.
7. Embrace the Journey Together
Remember that every challenge is an opportunity to grow closer and stronger as a couple. Embrace the journey together, knowing that your love and faith can carry you through any storm. Celebrate your resilience and the unwavering bond you share.
Doing the Will of God and what he called you do is also reflected in your marriage. When you have Vision and purpose, you understand the direction for you life and can focus on that no matter what trials come your way. I am guilty sometimes of stressing, worrying and being fearful because life can get that rough, but knowing the Lord, loving your spouse and having supportive family and friends can see you through.
In closing, let us remember that life’s trials, though humbling, are also moments of grace. With God’s guidance and the strength of a solid marriage, couples can navigate even the most tumultuous times and emerge stronger than ever. Together, we can find the resilience to face the world, no matter how upside down it may seem.
Stay blessed, and remember: Together, we are stronger.
Warm Regards,
