Faithful Leadership: A Pillar of Kingdom Fatherhood
Honoring Minister Clarence Pulley Jr's Legacy | Our Iconic Kingdom Fatherhood eSeries Proverbs 20: 7
Good morning, Icons,
What is a Kingdom Father? A Kingdom Father is more than just a biological dad—he is a spiritual leader, protector, and guide who models God’s love and wisdom in his home, community, and beyond.
This week begins our June Kingdom Fatherhood Celebration honoring faithful fathers. Today, we are zooming into the core characteristics of Kingdom Fathers.
Is your dad, husband, uncle or a father in your life a Kingdom Father? Tell us about him.
Reminder. Here are the:
Core Characteristics of a Kingdom Father:
Faithful Leader – He leads his family in faith, ensuring that Christ is the foundation of his household.
Protector & Provider – He shields his loved ones from harm—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Unwavering Love – His fatherhood is rooted in love, grace, and patience, reflecting the heart of God.
Teacher of Truth – He instills biblical values, empowering his children to walk in righteousness and purpose.
Legacy Builder – His impact extends beyond his own life, shaping future generations through his wisdom, character, and faith.
Let’s dive into characteristic number 1:
Faithful Leadership: A Pillar of Kingdom Fatherhood
A Kingdom Father is more than just a provider—he is a faithful leader, guiding his household and community with unwavering devotion to God. Faithful leadership is not merely about authority; it is about servanthood, wisdom, and a commitment to God's Word. This kind of leadership shapes families and communities, strengthening future generations in righteousness.
My father Clarence led us with a strict and humorous way about himself. He was dedicated to educating all of us, leading us in faithful service to Christ Jesus, meaning we were at school and reading when needed to be and inside the church when the doors were opened. We prayed, we laughed, we were disciplined, and we were molded into model citizens able to work for the government, work businesses in our communities and even to develop solutions in life, love, marriage and family.
For example, one time he was in the hospital for a heart attack. We visited him as teens to make sure he was okay. My dad asked us about not being in school and how we were feeling. Even in a terrible time for himself, he was still concerned about us children and worried about our education. He regularly put us above his own needs which I feel contributed to his sickness later in life. He worked hard and walked so we could all run.
Clarence did not play about leading his family. Four of his children took his last name into government work, I, for example, took it to two combat tours to Iraq leading men and women in uniform. My late brother was a Marine; his twin was in the Navy. Our youngest brother is an entrepreneur with two community coffee shops, and our special needs sister even works in independent living. The oldest of his children leads the way with over 20 years working for the state.
Faithful Leadership in the Home
The home is the foundation where a Kingdom Father cultivates faithfulness. He leads by example, teaching his family to trust in God through both words and actions.
My father made sure we all were baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit and knew our Bibles. My Bible I have to this day was given to me back in 2004 from my father and I was able to take it overseas twice going to church service in a predominately Muslim country. We listen to gospel hymns, were on the choir, took God overseas because of his guidance. Our prayers were learned from watching him, our leadership resembles his own and we all take care of our families like he did for us.
My late brother’s family still goes to church down here in GA meaning we all took God with us anywhere in the world.
He was on the choir, served as an usher, fixed the water heater, and did whatever else our hometown church needed including having his own set of keys to the doors. My father taught us about cities in the Bible, how to use God is our marriages, and how to pray every day with our spouses and kids. He loved God. He was at church the Sunday before he passed away.
📖 Joshua 24:15 – “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
A faithful father establishes his household upon God's Word. He prays over his family, studies scripture with them, and demonstrates grace and patience in every challenge. His leadership is not based on control but on serving, encouraging, and uplifting those under his care.
Example: A Kingdom Father wakes up early to pray for his children, asking God to guide them in their daily walk. When difficulties arise, he does not react with anger but with wisdom, pointing them toward biblical truth rather than worldly solutions.
Faithful Leadership in the Community
Kingdom Fathers understand their responsibility extends beyond their homes. They are mentors, protectors, and pillars of strength within their communities—helping to lead by faith and integrity.
📖 Proverbs 27:17 – “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Faithful leaders support and uplift fellow men, offering wisdom and accountability. They mentor younger generations, engage in service, and help restore families through compassion and truth.
Example: A Kingdom Father volunteers at a local outreach program, mentoring young men who lack father figures. Through his guidance, he demonstrates biblical leadership, showing them what it means to walk in faith, respect, and responsibility.
Legacy of a Faithful Leader
A faithful father does not lead for personal gain—he leads to plant seeds of righteousness that will bear fruit for generations. His faithfulness builds a legacy of spiritual strength, leaving an undeniable mark on the world.
📖 Psalm 112:1-2 – “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.”
A Kingdom Father models faith, instills biblical values, and creates a lasting impact that his children and grandchildren will carry forward.
As we honor Kingdom Fatherhood, let’s recognize the call to faithful leadership and step boldly into the role God has designed for fathers in the home, in the church, and in the community.
My dad was a big man, not easy to miss with a large family legacy behind him. We are carrying on his example through our faith in Christ, our love for our families and the work to carry Iconic Marriages nationwide. Nothing we do would be possible without his love, his faith, his discipline, his humor and his personality. He loved us and that is what will carry us through.

What do Faithful Fathers do?
1. Lead with Faith and Prayer
A Kingdom Father sets the spiritual tone of his household. Prioritize daily prayer, scripture study, and worship with your family. Make faith the foundation of your leadership.
📖 Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.”
2. Love and Serve Your Family Selflessly
Leadership in the Kingdom is not about control—it’s about servant leadership, just as Christ led through love. Be present, provide for their needs, and nurture them with patience and understanding.
📖 Ephesians 5:25 – “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
3. Be a Protector and Guide
Shield your family physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Model integrity, wisdom, and godly character, teaching your children to walk in righteousness.
📖 Proverbs 22:6 – “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
4. Build a Legacy Beyond Yourself
Your leadership impacts generations. Instill values, mentor young men, and support other fathers in their walk. Strengthen families within your community by sharing wisdom and faith.
📖 Psalm 127:3-4 – “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.”
5. Stand Firm in Challenges
Faithful leadership isn’t always easy. Stay grounded in God’s Word, remain steadfast in trials, and trust Him to guide you. Your strength as a father comes from obedience and faithfulness.
📖 1 Corinthians 16:13 – “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
