Get comfortable with being uncomfortable | Luvvie Ajayi Jones
Stuff has gotten weird. Relationship disarray, wars and rumors of wars, brokenness and broke people.
Too much is going on and yet. people are too comfortable.
As you know. I served with the 82nd Airborne, I have been to college, I have started this newsletter. I am not shy of my story or of speaking.
Growing up people have called me talkative, and I had “talked too much” on my report cards. In fact, I have over 300, 000 posts on the X app ove rhe last 7 years.
With 300 newsletter, multiple podcasts appearances and books, talking is just what I do.
We need folks to speak up and break fear to do it.
One such person is Luvvie Ajayi Jones author of the book “Professional Troublemaker: A Fear-fighter manual”.
She has written a teen and kid version as well to teach people how to stand up and buck the system of fear people have in saying something if it needs to be said.
Why you should listen

She connects with her audience through her social network, LuvvNation, a safe space for elevated conversations in a dumpster fire world. Her work has been featured in outlets such as the New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Inc, Fortune, Essence, Chicago Tribune and more.
Born in Nigeria, bred in Chicago and comfortable everywhere, Ajayi Jones enjoys laying around in her plush robe, eating a warm bowl of jollof rice in her free time. Her love language is shoes. (Source)
This is her biography from the TED Talks organizations.
Listen to her tell her story and share with you her why. Get empowered and inspired.
You guys know I have no problem with talking about being fearless and standing up to activate.
But we should never feel alone. She feels like the first domino but there are many men and women who actually were first to stand up. They are usually the ones that get called our heroes and leaders. Or they are the one who get locked up, shut down and/or assassinated.
In no way is being fearless, easy. But it is necessary. We need a movement of people who Break those fears that cause us pause to do more. And I tell you how in my book, too.
Yet, there is also something powerful when we congregate with like-minded individuals’ team up to make things uncomfortable for the status quo together.
I am not saying to have to agree with what she has done with her voice but let her example inspire you to get up and build something somewhere.
It doesn’t have to be politically active, in the church or temple, or even if it’s something in your own home.
Being a leader is knowing the road is rough and traveling it anyway to get to where you are going.
Psalm 34:4-8 - I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Ladies, sometimes feel like having a voice, being loud and being assertive means we are mean or nasty or Karens.
That’s not it. It is because what you are saying is making someone else uncomfortable. And that is the problem.
