Happy Veterans Day From Iconic Media
I joined the United States Army in 2006 and served until June 2011. It changed my life forever. Especially since I served with my husband. (You can read more below).
I will forever be grateful for the men and women I met along the way.
Without the Army, I wouldn’t know what leadership is in others and for myself. Because I had to experience it in this unique way for me.
Check out my interview with James Brown below in which I talk more about my military time in the Featured Articles Section.
Before the military, I was a low-self-esteem woman with no direction and just drifting through life.
I had failed college and didn’t know what to do after losing another job that was just not how I saw my adult life.
It so happened that my brother wanted to join in the military and the Army recruiter was at our house.
And the rest was history.
Today, I get to say thank you. To those who paved the way for me to be able to do what I have done and learn what I did along the way.
My sister is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, her husband the Army and her twin is a Marine.
I have many family members from both sides who swore that oath one day that never expires.
I didn’t come out of the military unscathed, but I use those things that almost broke me to inspire you.
And hopefully this work does just that.
Thank you, Veterans.
“It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.”―Charles M Province
