Core Characteristics of a Kingdom Father:
Faithful Leader – He leads his family in faith, ensuring that Christ is the foundation of his household.
Protector & Provider – He shields his loved ones from harm—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Unwavering Love – His fatherhood is rooted in love, grace, and patience, reflecting the heart of God.
Teacher of Truth – He instills biblical values, empowering his children to walk in righteousness and purpose.
Legacy Builder – His impact extends beyond his own life, shaping future generations through his wisdom, character, and faith.
Let’s dive into characteristic number 2:
Kingdom Fathers: Protectors and Providers in a World That Needs Them
How Faithful Men Are Creating Safer Communities for Women and Children Through Biblical Leadership
My dad was my hero.
He protected us, provided for us and he was funny. He not only cared for our physical and educational needs, but he made sure we took care of ourselves. While being stay at home mothers would have been nice, our father encourages both the men and women he raised to be career minded, give in tithes and offerings, and to serve our community. He taught my brothers how to honor and respect women as he demonstrated with our mother, and he taught our girls how to respect ourselves and to choose Godly men for our households.
My dad was strict to a point that it seems burdensome. But what we all had to realize is that we lived in dangerous areas where young black men and girls are targets for gang violence, sexual abuse, teen pregnancy, drug use and more. While we all were never perfect, dad did the best he could to keep us safe.
He once chased some kids that were going to harm my brothers, he’d go search for my siblings if they were lately coming home, he’d give us rides to school and to trips and he never was out of work for too long even if he had to jobs he didn’t like.
My dad even spent the little off time he had serving in our hometown church, mentoring my cousins, talking to other children at the church and being there when others needed him.
Kingdom Fathers are the answer to many American issues.
The Call for Kingdom Fathers to Lead in Community Safety
Across the world, communities face growing concerns about safety, leadership, and the well-being of women and children. While society wrestles with solutions, the answer has always been embedded in biblical fatherhood—men who lead, provide, and protect not just their families, but the entire community.
We’ve heard millions of times that a man’s/husband’s/father’s job is to provide and protect, yet the stats show something else. Most violence against women and children happen by someone they know. Most women aren’t just attacked in clubs and there is no age limited to the number of sexual assault cases out there. In fact, even men are victims of these type of atrocious crimes:
41% of women in the United States have experienced contact sexual violence, physical violence and stalking by an intimate partner
Nearly 1 in 2 women will face some physical violence
Every minute, 32 people experience intimate partner violence with women disproportionately affected
In a recent episode of the Grits & Eggs Podcast, award-winning host DeAnte Kyle tackled the uncomfortable truth about men’s role in community safety. He challenged the idea that men should simply tell women to “be safe” rather than actively creating environments where safety is the norm.
"You may not harass women. You may know how to take rejection. But the majority of men that most women deal with do not. And you are accountable for that as well," Kyle stated.
This conversation is critical for Kingdom Fathers—men who are called to lead by example and take real action in making communities safer.
Biblical Leadership: Protection & Provision Beyond the Household
Since the beginning, God has called men to be spiritual warriors and guardians. In today's climate—where women and children often face vulnerability—Kingdom Fathers have a unique duty to create safe environments, mirroring Christ’s role as the ultimate protector.
God’s Design for Protection
Psalm 82:3-4 commands, “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed.”
Fathers reflect God’s protective nature, standing firm against injustice, crime, and broken systems that endanger families.
Provision Beyond the Household
Fathers aren’t just providers of food and finances—they provide wisdom, strength, and mentorship to those around them.
Community leaders who embody Kingdom Fatherhood influence young men, guiding them into righteous manhood.
Men-Led Groups Taking Action in Chicago & New York
While conversations about accountability are important, action is what truly transforms communities. Several men-led organizations are stepping up to protect and provide beyond their own households. Here are just some in two highly talked about American cities:
1. E.Y.E. Lead Foundation (Chicago)
Founded by Dar'tavous Dorsey, this nonprofit is dedicated to mentoring young men and keeping them off the streets. Dorsey personally invests in housing, education, and leadership programs to ensure young men have positive male role models.
2. ManKind Project (National, including Chicago & New York)
This organization runs men’s groups focused on accountability, leadership, and emotional intelligence. They help men develop integrity and responsibility, ensuring they contribute to safer communities.
3. Men’s Support Groups (Chicago)
Chicago has several men’s support groups that focus on mental health, mentorship, and community safety. These groups provide safe spaces for men to discuss challenges and take action.
These organizations prove that Kingdom Fathers don’t just talk about safety—they create it.
A Call to Action for Kingdom Fathers
DeAnte Kyle got pushback from his podcast, and I am sure he was already aware. But his call for men to step up and do more is already being done by men in our communities. This work just often goes unnoticed because these types of guys aren’t looking for fame or chasing money and often need more resources and help.
True masculinity isn’t about domination or control—it’s about servanthood, wisdom, and unshakable protection. Kingdom Fathers, your role extends beyond your own household. Here’s how you can step up today:
Mentor a young man in need of guidance.
Get involved in community projects that promote safety.
Lead with integrity, showing other men how to follow God’s blueprint for fatherhood.
Share biblical principles on leadership and protection with those seeking wisdom.

How Modern Shaming Tactics have harms Men’s ability to Step Up
"Simp" and "gold digger" culture have distorted the biblical call for Kingdom Fathers to protect and provide for their families and communities. These labels—used to shame men for honoring, protecting, and investing in women and against women who want husbands that provide—created division and discourage men from stepping into their God-given role of leadership. Instead of embracing provision as a strength, many men fear being taken advantage of, while others withdraw from their responsibilities entirely.
🚨 The Problem: How These Mindsets Disrupt Kingdom Fatherhood
“Simp” Culture Undermines Godly Leadership
Men who openly love, care for, and protect their wives and families are sometimes ridiculed for being “soft” or “weak.”
This discourages acts of kindness, generosity, and sacrificial love, which are central to Kingdom masculinity.
Biblical fathers lead through servanthood, not dominance—yet society’s view of masculinity often equates gentleness with weakness.
“Gold Digger” Stereotypes Erode Healthy Provision
The false idea that women only seek men for financial gain creates mistrust and tension in relationships.
It deters men from embracing their role as providers, fearing they’ll be used rather than valued.
Biblical provision isn’t just about money—it includes wisdom, spiritual leadership, and emotional security.
Men Abandoning Their Protective Role
Instead of building strong communities, some men step back, arguing that women should “make better choices” rather than needing protection.
Kingdom Fathers don’t just talk about problems—they actively create solutions, ensuring their environments are safe, thriving, and guided by righteous leadership.
🛠️ The Solution: Protecting Fathers & Elevating Families
To combat these toxic mindsets, we must restore and champion biblical masculinity—where provision and protection are seen as honor, not burdens.
Teach Biblical Leadership to Young Men
Programs like the E.Y.E. Lead Foundation (Chicago) and ManKind Project (NY) teach young men how to lead with strength, integrity, and faith.
More mentorship and discipleship are needed to counteract the negative cultural influences.
Celebrate Godly Men Who Lead by Example
Kingdom Fathers should be highlighted and honored, showcasing men who provide and protect selflessly.
Churches and communities can offer testimonies, mentorship programs, and leadership conferences to reinforce positive male influence.
Strengthen Family Bonds Through Biblical Accountability
Instead of placing blame on women, Kingdom Fathers must focus on their role in building safe, thriving families.
Encouraging healthy Iconic marriages and fatherhood leads to stronger children, safer communities, and generational legacy.
🔔 Caution for Kingdom Fathers: Lead with Wisdom and Discernment
At my husband’s college a man snuck on to campus who was a former student. He was a harassing women eating lunch and a man stepped up to check him. Unfortunately, he was stabbed and lost his life trying to step up and help. Many men, when looking at these types of situations, instead of focusing on the man that should have been allowed on campus, the lack of security of the school, blame the victim saying her family should pay. They say this is why men shouldn’t help.
Really? But you honor men who join the military knowing that this is a dangerous job. In fact, I did it. I was serving in the United States Army during the Iraq elections in 2010 and had to pull security for women going to vote. Women voting was considered dangerous, and I had to protect their vote. I also made sure there were no weapons and bombs at the sight. I was a military cook. While security is partially our training, I was not a military police officer, I wasn’t EOD, and yet I was put in harm’s way.
Our men are called the leaders in our society. If we can’t look to you for protection, who can we? Yes, we can take steps with personal training in combatives training, weapons, and understand safety but we also need good men and women to step up for a safer world.
DeAnte’ wasn’t saying take risky in dangerous situations. He was saying men have to do a better job individually and community.
Some men recently have been saying that they would only protect their own women and children. That doesn’t stop men from being victims of violence and most violence against men are from other men.
Protection is a core value of Kingdom Fatherhood, but wisdom must always guide action. We are not calling men to reckless sacrifice, but rather strategic, safe leadership. Assess situations carefully, work in unity, and prioritize safety for everyone involved. We at Iconic acknowledge that many men have lost their lives in trying to be a present help for victims in their community. We send out our condolences and prayers to victims of crime and want to share our warning with you. A Kingdom Father protects not just with strength, but with discernment—knowing when to step in, when to call for help, and when to lead others to create safer spaces. Stand firm, but never without wisdom.
How to Remain Safe:
1. De-Escalation First
Whenever possible, avoid physical confrontation. Use calm, firm communication to de-escalate tense situations. 📖 Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”
✅ Example: If someone is aggressive, keep your voice steady, avoid direct eye contact (which can be seen as a challenge), and use phrases like “I don’t want trouble, let’s talk this out.”
2. Protect in Numbers
Never engage alone if you can help it. Call for backup, whether it’s trusted friends, security, or law enforcement. ✅ Example: If you see a woman being harassed, gather other men to intervene safely rather than stepping in alone.
3. Assess Before Acting
Before stepping into a situation, evaluate the risks. Is the aggressor armed? Are there escape routes? Your safety matters too. ✅ Example: If a fight breaks out, position yourself near exits, avoid standing between multiple aggressors, and look for ways to remove victims safely rather than escalating the conflict.
4. Use Your Voice & Presence
Sometimes, firm words and body language can stop an altercation before it starts. Stand tall, speak with authority, and set clear boundaries. ✅ Example: If someone is harassing a woman, step in confidently and say, “That’s enough. Walk away.” Often, a strong presence can deter further aggression.
5. Know When to Walk Away
Not every battle is worth fighting. Your life is more valuable than proving a point. If the situation is escalating beyond control, leave and seek help. 📖 Matthew 10:16 – “Be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”
✅ Example: If someone is trying to provoke you into a fight, refuse to engage and remove yourself from the situation.
6. Call for Help Immediately
If a crime is happening, call authorities first before stepping in. Your priority is safety, not heroism. ✅ Example: If you witness a robbery, don’t rush in—call 911, observe details, and help victims afterward.
7. Train for Situations
Self-defense and crisis training can prepare you for real-life dangers. Learn basic self-defense, conflict resolution, and situational awareness. ✅ Example: Take a self-defense class or community safety training to be equipped for emergencies.
Kingdom Fathers protect with wisdom, not recklessness. The goal is to keep yourself and others safe, not to take unnecessary risks.
