Kingdom Marriages: A Partnership Rooted in Faith
Our New Iconic eSeries Kingdom Marriages | Emphasizing Matthew 6:33 and Fostering Love in Your Marriage
Good afternoon, Icons,
We are back with our Iconic eSeries, “Kingdom Marriages” and hope that this will bless you in your union.
We thank all of you who have supported the Pulley family during this time of mourning and ask that you continue to keep us in prayer.
If you would love to send a donation to support my mother as she goes through the grieving process losing a husband, son, and niece, nephew, and sister, feel free to use the link below. Remember rewards are always available.
Our goal is $10k to help her with whatever she needs at this time.
It is with celebrations and love, that I continue the work of Iconic Marriages in the memory of my father Clarence Pulley Jr, Brother Ronnie Pulley and Aunt Mary Harvin, who all went on to be with the Lord. It is not a time of great sadness because we know where they are as we all miss them deeply. We thank God for the time we had with each one of them, sharing love, our lives, and the memories we hold dear and, we do the will of God so we can see them all again one day.
Rest in Peace to another dear loved one, Daryl Medlin, my cousin. You are now with the Lord and your father David. May your soul rest.
I ask you Icons, that you, pray my strength in the Lord.
Kingdom Marriages: A Partnership Rooted in Faith
We were driving to my late brother’s home for a visit down these back roads in Georgia. We forgot that it is a long trip, and our car tank was close to E. My husband was driving, and I showed him on Google Maps that the next gas station was far.
He said, we will make it.
This is the faith my husband has shown often in our years of marriage together that has comforted me and made me feel secure living so far from my parents and other family. This strong faith that things will be alright no matter what we faith has sustained us. I had faith in him because of it.
As we were driving the gas empty light came on. I said as a good Christian that we would be ok. As we went further, my natural instinct to worry started to creep in and my husband said again that we would be alright.
Sure enough, we made it. He got out and as he was going inside to pump the gas, he smiled at me. In my head I thought of the scripture:
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. -Mattew 8:26
My husband’s smiled because he was right.
In marriage, faith plays a major role in the success of the relationship. Faith in a higher power gives you both something to look towards, faith in each other protects the vows you share and faith in yourself helps you manage your role in the partnership.
Marriage is a divine covenant designed by God, a sacred partnership that reflects His boundless love and grace. In a Kingdom Marriage, the foundation isn’t built on fleeting emotions or societal expectations—it’s rooted in unwavering faith and a shared commitment to Christ.
A Kingdom Marriage thrives on the principle of partnership, where both husband and wife walk together in unity, purpose, and love. It’s not about being perfect or free from challenges, but about trusting God to guide you through every season, strengthening your bond along the way.
What Does a Partnership Rooted in Faith Look Like?
Christ at the Center: A Kingdom Marriage begins and grows with Christ at the center. When couples prioritize prayer, worship, and studying Scripture together, they invite God’s presence into their relationship. This spiritual foundation becomes the anchor that holds them steady amidst life’s storms.
Embracing God’s Design: In a Kingdom Marriage, both partners embrace their God-given roles, celebrating each other’s unique strengths. By walking in alignment with God’s purpose, they find balance, harmony, and fulfillment in their relationship.
Communicating with Grace: Open and loving communication is vital in a faith-filled partnership. When couples speak with kindness, patience, and understanding, they reflect the love of Christ in their marriage. Honest conversations build trust and deepen intimacy, creating a safe space for growth.
Encouragement and Support: A Kingdom Marriage is a place where both partners lift each other up. Encouraging words and acts of support inspire each spouse to step into their God-ordained destiny, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
Reflecting God’s Love
A Kingdom Marriage isn’t just about two people—it’s a covenant with God. It’s a union that not only blesses the couple but also serves as a testimony to others of God’s transformative love. By rooting their marriage in faith, couples can overcome challenges, grow together, and fulfill God’s plan for their lives.
Scripture to Reflect On
"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." – Ecclesiastes 4:12
In a Kingdom Marriage, God is the third strand, binding the couple together in a bond that cannot easily be broken. When you choose to walk in partnership with your spouse and Christ, you create a marriage that honors God and stands the test of time.
May your marriage be a beacon of faith, hope, and love, shining brightly for the world to see.
How to Face Challenges
I was worried about the gas running out. My husband wasn’t. It was my faith that was lacking at a crucial moment. At times, this can cause issues in a relationship and couples can grow apart. Fortunately, for us we have wavered enough storms to trust each other and trust God who can calm the storm like in Matthew above.
Challenges are inevitable in any marriage, and Kingdom Marriages are no exception. However, the foundation of faith provides couples with the tools to navigate these trials and emerge stronger together. Here are some common challenges that may test a Kingdom Marriage’s faith and corresponding scriptures that offer guidance:
1. Communication Breakdowns
Misunderstandings and miscommunication can strain any relationship. Differences in perspectives, unmet expectations, or unspoken needs can create emotional distance.
Scripture for Guidance: "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." – Ephesians 4:29 This verse reminds couples to speak with grace and love, always seeking to build each other up.
2. Financial Stress
Disagreements over spending, saving, or financial priorities can lead to tension in a marriage.
Scripture for Guidance: "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." – Philippians 4:19 Trusting God to provide and aligning financial decisions with biblical principles can help couples find peace.
3. External Influences and Distractions
Work, extended family, or societal pressures can sometimes take precedence over the marriage relationship.
Scripture for Guidance: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." – Matthew 6:33 This verse reminds couples to prioritize God and their relationship above external distractions.
4. Parenting Challenges
Raising children can bring differing parenting styles or decisions to the forefront, testing unity.
Scripture for Guidance: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." – Proverbs 22:6 A shared commitment to raising children in faith helps couples remain united.
5. Unforgiveness or Past Hurts
Unresolved issues, grudges, or emotional wounds can hinder intimacy and trust.
Scripture for Guidance: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." – Ephesians 4:32 This verse encourages couples to extend forgiveness, mirroring God’s grace.
6. Health or Life Crises
Illness, loss, or unexpected hardships can challenge a couple’s faith and resilience.
Scripture for Guidance: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." – 1 Peter 5:7 Leaning on God’s care and trusting His plan helps couples find strength in trying times.
7. Spiritual Drift
A lack of shared spiritual growth or one partner feeling disconnected from faith can create distance.
Scripture for Guidance: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." – Proverbs 27:17 Encouraging and supporting each other spiritually strengthens the bond of faith.
Conclusion
A Kingdom Marriage isn't free from challenges, but it’s equipped with divine resources to overcome them. By turning to God’s Word and relying on His promises, couples can navigate trials and grow closer to each other and to Him.
A Kingdom Marriage is not free from problems but it’s that we know who our problem solver is, how to access His power and how to petition our needs before Him, that keeps us afloat.
Faith is the stuff of hope. Use it to guide your relationship against the test that will come, and they will come. But you know what to do when they do. May the words in today’s newsletter strengthen your union so that you may have an Iconic marriage build on the promises of the Kingdom of God.
