Mrs. Pinky Cooks: How I Warm Up My Social Empire with Good Eats
I love this time of the year.
Cooler weather and more holidays incoming, it makes for a great time to break out your soup and warm recipes for the whole family to enjoy. Dinner time is a great time to love on and show your family some appreciation.
Also, I came across some social media user who talked about how expensive groceries have become and how they are having a hard time shopping. Luckily, I have some tips and tricks for you. Making soups and casseroles, for example, are a cost effect money saving hack because they are cheap eats, can be used as leftovers and you can also bargain shop for the lowest deals.
This picture above is of my Lasagna Soup I made copying
who posted her version on her X app account last year.I even found a chicken and white lasagna soup version over on Facebook, yum.
Seeing what she was cooking up inspired me to give it a try. I love seeing and trying new recipes. In fact, cooking is a passion of mine passed down from my grandmother that carried me from my job in the military and beyond. It brings families, friends and even strangers together for good food. Everyone has to eat, and it is a great way to encourage unity and love.
Good cooking connects us all and keeps our families’ bellies full.
This soup is very easy to make, and you can do it with plenty leftover.
I also like a version from the “Mr. Make it Happen” YouTube Video below, check it out and give it a try. Make sure you subscribe to his channel because he has lots of great recipes.
Market Tips and Tricks
We know the economy is rough for many families. Iconic is here to make sure we help you thrive anyway possible. There are plenty of ways to save money and make food last during this tough economy for your social empire.
Here are a few tips.
Comparision shop: Shop between different stores, check out weekly flyers in the Sunday paper or with store apps, download the app Flipp and more. Many stores have their own savings, discount cards, club memberships and more to save you cash. Don’t be so picky of some stores over others, a store you might not like their meat from might have cheaper prices on something else. Doing your own hunting for bargains will help your wallet.
Buy in Bulk: When you get items in bulk you can do meal prep and freeze pre-made meals ahead of time. You can also buy in the proper season and save when the item is usually more expensive. Only do this for food you know you consume a lot of.
Buy Store Brand: Most store brand items are just as good and cheaper than your name brand items. If you must buy name brand look for differences in quantity and for BOGO deals and coupons. Many things like medicine and vitamins are mostly identical to their branding counterpart.
Soups and Stocks: One thing that can stretch far and wide is making your own soups and stocks yourself. It saves time and can last for days. Soups can be made out of almost any version of your favorite meals: Taco, Lasagna, Cheeseburger and Potato are all god soups.
Fresh vs Frozen vs Canned: Choosing where to save money can come down to which version of the item you and your family likes best. Fresh foods tend to spoil faster while canned can have too much sodium. If you want to can yourself, you can save on the seeds and the planting at home, but you’ll pay in the labor sweat equity to do your own work. Frozen veggies and other products either in store or from your own home vacuum sealer works wonders for storage and room, a spare deep freezer or second fridge maybe needed.
Use Your Dietary Ideas to Your advantage: If you need to cut back on your calories maybe limit items that are higher in price like meat and alcohol to sparingly just like junk food and snacks. If you have to supplement for allergies or other diets like vegan, keto or carnivore, try to look for less costly cuts of food, brands that aren’t so popular and go to stores like Aldi’s. You have to do the work to put less pressure on your wallet. Shop in season for certain fruits and veggies to save on produce.
A Call for Support
Dear Iconic Family,
Two years ago, I embarked on a journey that changed my life forever. Today, I am thrilled to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of my first book, “Breaking Fear.” This milestone is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the power of resilience, hope, and the incredible support from all of you.
A Journey of Healing
“Breaking Fear” was born out of my own struggles and triumphs. It is a story of healing, of finding strength in the face of adversity, and of breaking free from the chains of fear that once held me back due to losing our child during a miscarriage. Through my words, I aimed to share my journey with the world, hoping to inspire others to confront their fears and embrace their true selves.
Impact on Readers
Over the past two years, I have been humbled by the countless messages and stories from readers who have found solace and strength in my book. Many of you have shared how “Breaking Fear” has helped you navigate your own challenges, providing a beacon of hope during dark times. Your stories of transformation and empowerment are the greatest rewards I could ever ask for.
A call to support
As I continue my journey, I find myself facing new challenges. Recently, I have been dealing with significant medical bills that have become overwhelming. I am reaching out to you, my cherished Iconic members, for support. If “Breaking Fear” has touched your life in any way, I kindly ask for your help in this time of need. The Lasagna Soup I made was great and it was better as leftovers! It has become a stable in our Fall soup planning and should become one you master. I think it is one of the many soups even kids will love.
My version had ground beef, but you can replace it with ground chicken, turkey or omit meat altogether.
I used “Better than Bullion” beef seasoning and I used tomato paste. Then, I added water instead of tomato sauce. You can always use what you got and adjust seasonings to your liking. Another helpful tip is that you can use a crockpot and after your brown your meat with onions, put all the ingredients except the noodles in the pot. Put the noodles in the last 20 minutes or so.

1 tbsps Italian paste
Beef bouillon powder to taste
AP seasoning and Red pepper flakes to taste
1 pinch of white sugar
2 tbsps diced garlic
4 cups beef broth or better than bullion here use the directions for same amounts

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
1 cup ricotta
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
Diced basil and parsley
8 lasagna noodles
Quick Recipe:
Brown the meat: In a large pot over medium high heat, brown your ground beef (turkey or chicken). Season with salt pepper and garlic. Drain the meat.
Cook onions and garlic: Cook these in the pan with about a 1tbsp of grease left from the meat about 5 minutes for the onions, then add the garlic which takes about another 30 seconds.
Add Sauce and Spices: Here add everything except the lasagna noodles and cheeses. And the meat to the pot. Cook for about 30-45 minutes on low.
Add the lasagna noodle: Bring everything up to a boil and add the noodles, break them in half so they will fit into 3rds or 4ths. Then reduce heat and stir occasionally. You can add spinach, kale or nothing at this point.
Combine Cheese: Stir together mozzarella, parmesan and ricotta cheese. Serve warm on top of the bowl of soup. Garnish with basil, parsley, oregano or nothing.
Tips: If prepping for another time to eat, do not add noodles to your storage. Make the base and freeze or refrigerate. When it is time to reheat. Bring it up to a boil and add noodles in the final cooking. Freeze and/or refrigerate without cheese.
Soup should last 3-4 days covered in the fridge.
