Honoring our beloved Father and Brother one last time
Family Is Not an Important Thing; It's Everything
Dear Iconic Marriages audience and community,
Today, I rewrite to share the news of my beloved brother's passing and funeral this weekend.
This was so soon after my dad’s passing and has been hard on our family. Please continue to pray for us as we go through this difficult time. If you want to send donations, well wishes or more, please contact us in DM’s.
SGT Ronnie Michael Pulley USMC courageously battled renal failure and Wegener's disease, but his fight came to an end. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find solace in remembering the incredible person he was and the legacy he leaves behind.
My brother was not just a Marine Corps veteran; he was a pillar of strength, a beacon of hope, and the embodiment of resilience. He leaves behind his loving wife and three sons, who will carry forward his memory and the values he held dear. His humor, wit, and caring nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Despite the occasional disagreements, the bond we shared was irreplaceable. I often find myself wishing we had spent more time together, but I am profoundly grateful for the moments we did share, especially during his struggle with dialysis and Wegener's disease.
In these times of mourning, we are reminded of the paramount importance of family. Family is not just a part of our lives; it is the backbone of our existence, the foundation upon which nations are built. Our relationships with our loved ones shape us, support us, and give our lives meaning and purpose.
My father passed February 6, 2024, just a few weeks before my brother and the compounding grief has been hard for all who loved them both. We have been well aware of my dad’s struggles with heart failure and diabetes as well as the stress of kidney failure on our brother. The resilience of both is a testament to their stregnth, love for us, and mental fortitude of the type of men others would only hope to be. This post is only a small part into the love we have for both of them.
Through the lens of my brother's life and my father’s, we see the true essence of family. It is through the unwavering love and commitment to family that we learn what it means to stand by each other, even in the most challenging of times. Their legacy teaches us that family is not merely an important thing; it is everything.
During their years of battling illness, we witnessed the strength and resilience of our family. We learned to lean on each other, to provide support and comfort, and to find joy in the midst of pain. These experiences have only strengthened our resolve to cherish and prioritize our family bonds.
As we honor my brother's memory this weekend, let us remember that the time we spend with our loved ones is precious and irreplaceable. Let his life be a testament to the power of family, the importance of unity, and the enduring strength that comes from standing together.
My father spent a lot of time telling us about his illness and preparing us for his death. On contrary, our brother’s death was a gut punch because it was unexpected. But we know that God’s plans are greater than our own.
In closing, I ask that you hold your family close, appreciate the moments you have, and never take for granted the incredible gift of family. My brother's and my father’s legacy are a reminder that family is not an important thing; it's everything.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
Nicole Pinkston
