Strong Dad June: 4 Reasons D-Day Reminds us Giving Our All Matters
Iconic Media is the Number 1 Hub for Marriage Success and Empowerment
Good afternoon, Icons,
Happy #StrongDadJune. We continue to celebrate fathers throughout this month.
It's essential to express our gratitude to you men for your contributions.
Positive cultural pushback represents the counterculture. Merely complaining online won't shift the culture.
It requires effort.
And that's what we're here for: to uplift, inspire, and honor you for fulfilling your responsibilities.
Keep in mind, Iconic is a community. Your voice matters to us.
So go ahead, like, subscribe, and share. Your support is crucial for our Iconic endeavors.
Strong Dad June: 4 Reasons D-Day Reminds us Giving Our All Matters
Today marks the remembrance of D-Day, the day when men and women under the red, white, and blue banner fought on the shores of Normandy against tyranny.
I had not planned to speak much today, as I prefer not to dwell on this aspect of my service as a veteran.
However, I could not remain silent. These men and women deserve our perpetual remembrance.
Countless valiant fathers left their children to defend our nation, a sacrifice we must honor.
I acknowledge the historical period when Black Americans stood with White Americans, facing racism and sexism at home, yet still responding to the call of duty.
America was enduring a tumultuous time domestically yet still heeded the call to action.
Thus, when we are labeled as divided, it should never serve as an excuse to shirk from standing and fighting when duty calls.
War does not pause for unity or equitable treatment.
Through Iconic Media, I am making a statement that I contributed. I did not wait for ease before stepping up to build.
Today, we discuss why giving is such a profound blessing.
And here's why!
Here is why!
Reason 1: Why not you?
Joining the military was initially a financial decision for me. After dropping out of college, being single, and aimless, I was presented with the opportunity to enlist in the Army again, and I accepted.
I never fully grasped that I was committing to potentially sacrifice my life for the chance to earn my degree and shape my future.
Others had different journeys. Some were drafted, while others faced a pivotal "Do something" moment.
Adolf Hitler was indifferent to America's racial and gender issues; he pursued his own agenda.
Yet, men and women chose to take a stand.
The justifications for war can be debated another time.
My lessons in leadership have taught me that sometimes we must be the ones to show up and give everything we have.
We must be the ones to rise to the occasion.
When confronted with a problem and searching for someone to act, why shouldn't that person be you?
It can be you.
Occasionally, we need to set aside our own thoughts and look to others, realizing that no one else may come to claim victory.
Witnessing these men and women give their utmost, you realize that we must be the solution to the challenges we encounter.

Reason 2: It Comes Back on You
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” Corinthians 9:6-7 NIV).
Time and again, I've witnessed the rewards of my generosity. Even if there were no rewards, I would still give. I assisted my parents in acquiring their home before securing our own.
Once, I gave to a homeless woman; coincidentally, my charity received a donation the same day. Giving is indeed a blessing, and we give from the heart because our God cherishes cheerful givers. The tale of Job was an opportunity for Satan to taunt God, suggesting Job's love was conditional on his blessings, not for God's essence.
Our intent in giving is not to receive, yet often, we do.
Marriage epitomizes giving. It involves surrendering your independence, singlehood, time, finances, and energy. It's about building something new with someone. It means giving everything you have. Recently, I gave away diapers to a local family after mistakenly buying the wrong size.
Soon after, a donation was made to Iconic Media.
I hold the belief that contributing to the betterment or empowerment of another is a true reflection of one's character and willingness to give.
This can work either positively or negatively in your life. If you’re planting seeds of kindness, you know what? People are going to be kind to you. If you forgive others, they are going to be forgiving of you. If you’re generous, people are going to be generous with you. Sow Generously to Reap Generosity - Pastor Rick's Daily Hope
You can reap negatively too. If you are wondering why, you aren’t being elevated or moved forward, consider your giving life. Maybe that will unlock the doors you need.
Reason #3: It paves the way for Others
Germany is nothing like it was around WW2. Problems around the world exist and yet we have to thank those men and women for at least answering the call when they had too.
I fought the “Global War on Terrorism”, and so you know that war is always ongoing because people love to fight each other.
And yet, when we step up, we make a way for others. My kids have a chance to live in a better community because my husband and I served.
The 6888 all black female unit in WW2 of Black women paved the way for both my sister and I to even be able to serve.
Stepping up to lead and change the world paves the way for others to build off of your work.
Giving yourself over to your God given purpose links us up with others wanting to do more.
We cannot change the world without giving time, money or energy. Giving unlocks the blessing of a better world.
Reason #4: We change the World
Have you ever reached in your pocket to give a homeless person money and thought it was a waste? That they might use your dollars for drugs or something else.
And you think that it is pointless.
But the act of giving is one that rewards you even when others take advantage.
Are you tired of something in this world? A culture issue, political or social one?
What do you think will shift things? Only if you get off your backside and give.
Those on the shorelines of Normandy did not know the America they were saving. But they gave their lives anyway.
Many of the Black soldiers fought for a country that they were mistreated in, and yet they fought anyway.
They believe it would be worth it to save this nation for the possibility of change.
Giving opens up our ability to do good, better and best for our own future.
We can change the world.
Summary
Giving is a life hack that unlocks blessings in your life!
Some offer the ultimate sacrifice, for which we are grateful.
We honor the heroes who perform such acts for others and acknowledge their families' sacrifices.
Moreover, giving is a blessing to you as well.
In giving, we receive, and by this, we can improve the world bit by bit.
This is how we leave an iconic mark on the world.
