Strong Dad June: 6 Tips to Relax This Summer to Rejuvenate, Revive and Rest
Summer is officially here. And if you haven’t gotten out the house and taken time off work, you should.
The unofficial beginning of the summer fun season in America starts Memorial Day weekend and we have July 4th coming up.
So, remember that fun is a part of a healthy relationship in marriage and with your children.
Here are 6 tips to rejuvenate, Revive and rest this time of year, or anytime you have a chance.
Tip #1: Plan Vacations Wisely
Whether it is to the amusement part, a family reunion, a beach stay or overseas, plan vacations the best you can.
Nothing ruins a great time than flight delays, bad hotel service, missing bags and all the other things that go wrong.
If you are a veteran, older or work for the government, look into ways to save money that you can use on vacation.
All-inclusive vacations let you leave your wallet at home, and depending on a foreign country, tips aren’t the norm.
Make sure you do your due diligence for traveling to somewhere new to make sure you and your family are safe.
Make sure to plan time for just you and your spouse vs you with the kids.
Solo vacations, time with just you and the boys can help you reconnect when you get back home.
Sometimes it is cheaper to book directly at the vacation resort or hotel vs a third party app. Travel agents are available if you need help. Talk to family and friends before you move on to your trip.
Tip #2: Bring out Your Inner Chef
Many dads love to cook for their loved ones and show out many times during the summer.
Dads jump on the grill, smoker or even bake when asked with enthusiasm as an episode of Iron Chef.
Cooking for those you love can be fun and kids even give the dishes names. But it can also be therapeutic in that you know your tastes buds better than anyone.
Whether its medium rare, vegan or whatever diets your prefer, dad in his infamous socks and sandals gets the family mouthwatering.
Usually, it’s a holiday or just a summer fun day, dads love to relax firing up their favor grill whether charcoal or cooktop gas.
And if you are just new to the cooking game, there is no time better than the present to get started.
Tip #3: Get Input from Your Wife and Kids
Sometimes being the leader of the family puts a lot on your soldiers. Have fun leaning on your spouse and/or kids figuring out where to go.
As kids get older, they like different things.
Trips can also be solo, with the spouse and/or to different sides of the family.
Online and offline resources are your best bet asking people in your circle what things they’ve enjoyed and which align with your values and tastes.
And strong dads aren’t afraid to think outside the box.
There is nothing wrong with utilizing the people closest to you and making sure they are included in any decisions you happen to make.
Tip #4: Remember Self-Care
Men can have a spa day too. From facials to pedicures, men too need and should want to be pampered. Sports massages, active recovery stretched and even brisk walks to help you recover from any form of busy work brings you back to life.
Changing up hairstyles, a new wardrobe and scents from the mall, isn’t just a sign of a mid-life crisis but can be a way to revive some fashions and habits that you might have let slide.
Taking care of yourself makes you ready for whatever life brings and for whatever your family needs.
A good diet and exercise mean you care about you and making sure you live as long as possible. With the strength of your soul that your family needs, taking care of your mental, spiritual and physical health, is vital to a completely person.
