Teen Pregnancy Data Your Influencers Won’t Tell You About
There has been an uptick in teen fighting, rioting and looting videos circulating on the internet.
People started breaking out to all kinds of discussions from systematic injustices, parenting issues and somehow landed the blame on teen pregnancy. One thing I’ve learned is people rarely have data to back up their assertions, so I went on a deep dive to look for myself.
That’s right. I went to see what Pew Research said and was shocked by the finds. As much as people talk about politicians like Lauren Boebert becoming a grandmom to her teenage parent, people tend to erroneously assume that the rate is going up.
A 2019, Pew Research study,” Why is the teen birth rate falling? by Gretchen Livingston and Deja Thomas” shifts the whole narrative surround teen pregnancy. Apparently, teen pregnancy is down.
This makes sense why the boomer generation is referred to as that name. But going from 96.3 all the way to 17.4 is a massive drop in the n umber of teens. The Data does not sure teens younger than 15 and surveys a number of years up to 2018.
Note: These data points and numbers is prior to the pandemic.
Rates for white and black teens fell by more than 50% over the past decade as well. (Source)

Users on the X app this week were arguing which generation had the worst parents and tried to make the connection with younger than normal parents with that can’t be further from the truth. You might see teen pregnancy in more areas around you, but overall, the rate has been dropping since WW2.
Interracial rates did double for Black teens against others but within the internal numbers, the rate still was less that its highest point.
The cause seems to point to:
2008 recession
Larger use on contraception
Larder percentage of never been married girls.
Before some jump ahead of me, it isn’t the abortion rate either. Specifically, among 15–19-year-old girls, that’s falling as well.
Please note that these rates only include live births with not including miscarriages and still births.

Whatever the socioeconomic, political or personal reasons our American teens, and fueled by the media, seem more violent or out of control, it cannot in good consciousness be attributed to teen pregnancy.
Despite what you have been told about the divorce rate from last week and about teen pregnancy, both like the overall childbirth rate are down.
Why is not being reported that teen pregnancy has improved?
Your guess is as good as mine. My purpose is to show you the data, so you don’t look crazy out here making assumptions based on social media treads, pundits with agenda and stereotypes about our kids.
The teen Pregnancy rate has been in steady decline and continues to fall. People are having children later in life if at all.
