The Power of a Father’s Legacy
My dad loved his family.
He celebrated my mom often, told his boys and girls he loved us, and worked hard to take care of us including vacations, movie nights, and holidays. He was a man of character, showing his flaws but showing us strength too.
I know I make him sound perfect. But to me, he was. His loudness, inappropriate jokes, and his tickles were perfect in society that thinks all Black American kids are fatherless. We were honored to know and love our dad, whether he had us in a strict dress code, was adamant about good grades, or told us about serving God.
He took his job as our dad seriously, to the point that even as adults he was there for us. He was who he was, scars, fears, pain and all were dealt with so we could succeed. He would never claim to be perfect, but he was the man I needed. God knew what he was doing when he gave me to him.
Fatherhood is more than a title, it’s a calling, a responsibility, and a sacred role in shaping the future. The impact of a father extends far beyond his own lifetime, influencing generations to come.
When I think about Kingdom Fatherhood, I reflect on the life of my own father, a man whose leadership, faith, and love shaped not only my family but everyone who crossed his path. His presence was a steady foundation, and his wisdom continues to guide me even now.
Scripture reminds us of the weight of fatherhood:
"The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him." – Proverbs 20:7
Being a Kingdom Father means embracing leadership rooted in faith, wisdom, and unwavering love. It means modeling Christ, serving selflessly, and ensuring that legacy is more than material—it’s spiritual.
