Top 10 Reasons to Be Thankful in 2024
We have four days until the Thanksgiving holiday, and I am sharing things we can all be thankful for today. Some of my family members won’t make it until 2025, but I am thankful to God to have known them and had such wonderful people in our lives. There are people sick, financially struggling and have a whole host of issues. But I am glad to be in the land of the living, have my tiny family who loves me, and I adore them, and I am grateful for my extended family and friends.
Being thankful doesn’t mean our lives are perfect but that God still blesses us anyhow. For every problem we need to take our gratitude and look for a solution. Joy is a choice. Let us find something to be thankful for and spread joy amongst those around us because we all could use some.
As we reflect on the past year, it's important to acknowledge the many reasons we have to be grateful. Here are the top 10 reasons to be thankful in 2024:
Health and Well-being: Good health is a precious gift. Being able to enjoy life without significant health issues is something to be deeply grateful for. In June, I got ill, and it was scary. My dad also almost died. Yet, we are both doing as best as we can right now. We are thankful to God for that blessing.
Family and Friends: The love and support of family and friends provide a strong foundation for happiness and resilience. Society often talks a lot about the bad, but let’s be grateful for the family we have left and our close-knit friends that keep us laughing, accountable, and helped in a time of need.
Technology and Innovation: Advances in technology have made our lives more convenient, connected, and efficient. My dad’s pacemaker, my husband’s glucose monitor, and my sister’s heart monitor all help us stay here and healthy.
Education and Knowledge: Access to education and the ability to learn and grow are invaluable resources that shape our future. For example, big portion of Americans still struggle to read, and we make it a part of our family lives to read to our children and have them read to us.
Nature and Environment: The beauty of the natural world, from stunning landscapes to the diversity of wildlife, reminds us of the planet's wonders. We have a bird that lives on our porch we named Richard. He is always cozy and comfortable around us and minds his business. We love seeing him daily.
Community and Society: Being part of a community that supports and uplifts one another fosters a sense of belonging and purpose.
Personal Achievements: Reaching personal milestones and goals, whether big or small, is a testament to our perseverance and hard work.
Acts of Kindness: The kindness and generosity of others, whether through small gestures or significant acts, make the world a better place. Iconic Marriage is built on the donations of our beloved sponsors so that we can give back to our local and online community.
Freedom and Rights: Living in a society where we have the freedom to express ourselves, pursue our dreams, and participate in democratic processes is a privilege. America has her issues and not everyone is happy at the moment, but there are still things like football (college and NFL), our unique cultures, and the way we can even complain that keeps us going. As a veteran, I was so happy when I was done deploying to comeback home even with all the bad things here in America. It is up to us to make this country live up to its foundational values.
Simple Pleasures: Everyday joys, such as a good book, a warm cup of coffee, or a beautiful sunset, remind us to appreciate the little things in life.
