How I Became Self-Aware: 5 Tips for a Healthy Marriage Mindset
I understand that I can be loud, boisterous, and decisive. I am headstrong and forward-thinking, determined to accomplish tasks. Throughout my 39 years, I have become very self-aware.
Recognizing myself is the first step towards the success of my marriage.
It's important to note that we can all embark on our journey to success by initially cultivating a winning mindset.
Our success fundamentally relies on the self-awareness that enables us to think and behave like winners.
What is self-awareness?
Self-awareness is the ability to tune in to your feelings, thoughts, and actions.
Being self-aware also means being able to recognize how other people see you.
People who are self-aware recognize their strengths and their challenges. Self-Awareness and Learning Differences (understood.org)
Self-awareness is key to understanding where to begin when considering marriage for the long term.
A successful marriage isn't just happenstance; it's constructed thoughtfully.
You lay the foundation for it, piece by piece, within your mind.
Whether your mind believes you can or cannot achieve something, it is correct in both cases.

If we think that we are afraid, we are.
Our minds are our determining factor to success even before we take one step.
The power of the mind applies to both positive and negative outcomes. If your mind believes you are chronically sick or lacking capability to accomplish a goal, you automatically start your day with that expectation. Whatever is your primary thought pattern you will subconsciously spotlight the reasons why this thought is true. What happens next is you create a feedback loop, reinforcing your primary thoughts because of where you are placing your attention. That is why the practice of rewiring your thinking is key to your success, happiness and health. Accessing The Power Of Your Mind: Placebo Effect And Mindset (forbes.com)
By observing your own thought process and devising strategies to overcome it, your self-awareness becomes the tool for developing a winner's mindset.
Here are 5 tips to cultivate a winners-mindset that you can apply to build your successful marriage today.
Get A Vision Plan: A vision is what you want to accomplish. It is something to work towards. Out of the vision comes your mission and goals which you can break down into smaller steps that make it easier. Usually, the husband has the Vision, and the wife becomes the helper of that vision and together they work towards it. Being a team is essence of marriage as two have become one.
Develop Your Tenacity: Understanding that everything will not go your way works. It helps you understand that lows will come with the highs, and you are ready for them. You know you and your spouse are imperfect, but you are ready for lives challenges as they come.
Be disciplined- You mind is also a muscle that can be trained. If you want to be successful you have to do something consistently. In marriage, that might mean waking up at the same time every day to kiss your spouse before they leave for work or making the kids lunches the night before school, so you aren’t rushing. To put yourself in the mindset for marriage do the chores in your household like you would once you get the ring. Mow the lawn, take care of the bills, handle your debts before you put them onto someone else. Discipline makes marriage more important in your mind rather than just a hobby or something to do.
Get Help: It is okay to admit you don’t know something. Seek out books, training, or the assistance of a coach, therapist, or other professional to navigate marital challenges. Demonstrating the willingness to reach out for help is a testament to your commitment to your relationship.
Get to Work: When we are uncertain, we hesitate. Often, the most valuable experience comes from real-world or on-the-job training. This doesn't mean rushing into marriage, but rather planning ahead. Determine the qualities you seek in a spouse and explore your options through dating. Decide where you want to live, whether you'll pursue a career, and your views on gender roles, or consider seeking coaching. To pave the way for a successful marriage, it's best to start as soon as possible.
Summary
Winners possess a victorious mindset even before they begin any endeavor.
Success stems not only from talent but also from the transformation of one's mindset during the journey.
Understanding the essentials of marital success is the foundational blueprint for building your social empire and the legacy you wish to establish.
A successful marriage mindset is merely the starting point.
And that is Iconic.
