The Unbreakable Bond: Understanding the Law of Covenant in Kingdom Marriages
My husband and I are on the same page with Matthews 6: 33. We are not only seeking the kingdom, but we are trusting that God will provide our basic needs as we live righteously.
It hasn’t always been that way.
My husband was my coworker in the military. We grew to be best friends helping each other on fitness tests, I was the one that needed more help, and doing our job to the best of our abilities. It was fun to work with someone that you also cared about.
I was raised in the church and could tell my husband was too but we both lived our lives kind of in limbo about seriously doing the work of the Lord. My husband was more agnostic, and I had more church hurt having been sinned against by so-called people in my past who also claimed to be Christian.
Something about my dad’s funeral snapped in us to take our walk with Christ more seriously.
It isn’t that dad didn’t try with talks with my husband and I, or that God didn’t reach out to us from time to time. It was just the finality of seeing our dad lay their going to be with the Lord that hit us so hard. It was a celebration of a faithful servant, minister, a lifelong child of God that made us realize we had no more time to play.
Watching our dear matriarch speak of her love and her love for Christ motivate us to take our covenant with each other more seriously by first going back to Christ. While we have lots of work to do, we are forever grateful for the example my father set about marriage, family and living for the lord that we hope to copy as best we can.
A covenant with God
Marriage is one of the most profound relationships designed by God, and it serves as a reflection of His eternal covenant with humanity. In the context of Kingdom Marriages, this sacred union is elevated beyond mere contractual agreements; it embodies an unbreakable covenant—a promise before God that is deeply spiritual and everlasting.
Biblical Foundation: Malachi 2:14
The scriptural basis for this principle is beautifully encapsulated in Malachi 2:14:
“The Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.”
This verse underscores the divine involvement in the marriage covenant. God not only witnesses the vows exchanged but holds both parties accountable to their commitment. It reminds us that marriage is not a private agreement between two individuals but a spiritual bond witnessed and blessed by the Creator Himself.
Covenant vs. Contract: The Key Distinction
In today’s world, many view marriage as a contract—a legal agreement that can be amended or dissolved if circumstances change. However, a Kingdom Marriage operates under a higher principle: covenant. While a contract is often based on mutual benefit and conditional terms, a covenant is a solemn, unbreakable promise rooted in selfless love and devotion.
Understanding this distinction can fundamentally change how couples approach their relationship. A covenant acknowledges that there will be challenges, but it also recognizes the power of perseverance and faith in overcoming them. It is about unwavering commitment, even in moments of difficulty, reflecting God’s faithfulness to His people.
How the Law of Covenant Transforms Marriages
Fostering Perseverance: When couples view their marriage as a covenant, they approach challenges with a mindset of endurance rather than escape. This perspective strengthens the relationship, enabling them to weather storms and emerge closer to one another and to God.
Encouraging Selflessness: A covenant demands sacrificial love—a love that prioritizes the needs of the partner and honors God above personal desires. This selflessness builds a foundation of trust and mutual respect.
Deepening Spiritual Connection: Recognizing the divine nature of a marriage covenant encourages couples to seek God’s guidance regularly. Prayer, worship, and studying His Word together become essential practices that nurture both the spiritual and emotional bond.
Providing Eternal Hope: The covenant is not just a commitment to each other but a commitment to God’s plan. It reassures couples that their union is part of His greater purpose and that His grace will sustain them.
Living Out the Law of Covenant
Applying this principle in daily life requires intentionality and faith. Couples can hold regular “covenant check-ins” to reflect on their journey, reaffirm their commitment, and celebrate milestones together under God’s guidance. Small acts of kindness, patience during disagreements, and a heart of forgiveness become powerful expressions of covenant love.
Ultimately, the Law of Covenant is a lifeline for Kingdom Marriages, grounding them in God’s design and promises. By embracing this unbreakable commitment, couples not only glorify God but also experience a profound and enduring love that transcends worldly understanding.
Are you ready to live out the covenant in your marriage? Let this principle inspire you to walk in faith, perseverance, and divine purpose.
BREAKING FEAR
In 2022, I wrote my first book about my miscarriage and the fear I experienced in Breaking Fear. In 2024, I re-released the book again with an epilogue about my daughter’s birth. I had a lot to say about fear.
But fear would rear its ugly head again in my life.
February 6, 2025 and on February 24, both my father and my brother passed away. Their deaths have forever impacted me. Through this grief, I learned God can use my personal story, as the story has already told.
I have many fears: of planes, of drowning, of leaving my kids in this chaotic world. Yet, God calls me not to worry. This is how I discovered His Kingdom message.
In Matthew 6:25, Jesus speaks to his disciples, who are worried about their basic needs. He tells them not to worry and instructs them to seek the Kingdom of God first and live righteously.
That my message to you today. I also encourage you to read my books to find strengthen for your trying days.

Why a Covenant Marriage?
God chose to establish the covenant of marriage for couples because it mirrors His own covenant with humanity—a relationship defined by steadfast love, faithfulness, and grace. Marriage, in this context, is not just a practical arrangement but a sacred bond that reflects His divine nature and intentions.
Here’s how this covenant helps married spouses remain committed to their Kingdom relationship:
A Divine Example to Follow: God’s covenant with His people, evident throughout the Bible, is unbreakable, even when humanity falls short. This inspires couples to strive for the same unwavering commitment in their marriage, relying on grace and forgiveness when challenges arise.
A Spiritual Anchor: Recognizing marriage as a covenant places God at the center of the relationship. This shared faith becomes a source of strength, guiding couples through difficulties and reminding them of the eternal significance of their union.
Encouragement to Persevere: In a world where relationships are often seen as disposable, a covenant mindset fosters perseverance. It shifts the focus from individual satisfaction to honoring God through the marriage, encouraging spouses to work through struggles rather than giving up.
A Commitment Beyond Feelings: Unlike contracts, which are based on conditions and can end if circumstances change, a covenant is a promise that remains regardless of emotions or hardships. This helps spouses stay rooted in their commitment, even when feelings waver.
A Reflection of Kingdom Values: Kingdom Marriages are designed to be a testimony to the world, showcasing the beauty of God’s design. By living out the covenant, couples model love, patience, and faithfulness, drawing others to seek God’s wisdom in their own relationships.
In essence, the covenant of marriage helps couples stick to their Kingdom relationship by grounding them in God’s promises and calling. It transforms their union into a spiritual journey—one that not only glorifies God but also strengthens their bond in ways that transcend earthly challenges.
